About Shabbat With 10 Strangers
Shabbat with 10 Strangers was started in 2012 by Danielle Marks and Tova Yampolsky as an initiative for the Campus Engagement Corps internship. Shabbat with 10 Strangers is modeled after the Alumni Association’s Dinner with 12 Strangers but hosted only on Friday nights by Jewish faculty or alumni and attended by both Jewish and non-Jewish students. Shabbat with 10 Strangers unites NU alumni, students, trustees and faculty in a series of Shabbat dinners that help expand Jewish connections on campus and expose students to new Shabbat rituals and traditions. The program is very simple: Jewish faculty host dinners in their homes or other place of their choosing. Students sign up to attend a dinner. No previous Shabbat experience necessary!
